Right… So you’re interested in doing Internet Marketing/ Online Marketing… You’re hyped up and you’re looking forward to working just two to four hours a day sitting in front of the computer in your bedroom dressed in just your jammies or whatever it is you wear [or don't wear] at home and make a five-figure monthly income in three months time.
I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but sorry dude/dudette, it doesn’t work that way.
If you’ve been following my posts on this page, you’ll know by now that I put in 12 to 14 hour days 7 days a week just attending online courses and doing product research among many other stuff [like writing this article here]… you have to understand that an Online Marketeer’s ‘job’ is not a ‘job’ per se, IT’S A BUSINESS!!! You get paid for running your business well. Do you know of ANY successful businesses run by a boss that works just four hours a day in his jammies?? Well, I don’t.
Before you even start thinking about being a full time Internet marketeer, you have to ask yourself this, are you up for the challenge? Are you mentally prepared to be responsible for your own actions and income? Do you have the right mindset for it? Can you think like a BOSS instead of an Employee?
Forget all the hype and online marketing videos that tell you that ‘You can make $18,460 off a single customer’ or ‘You are just 1 click away from making $15,000 in a month’. FORGET ALL THAT!!! i mean, they’re just that, Marketing Videos!!! They’ll claim you can buy property on the moon if they can get you to part with $200 a month for subscription to their ‘programs’.
I’m not saying all of them are bad systems or con-jobs. There are legitimately good or even GREAT programs out there in that price range, but you gotta take your time to source them out. Do your own research, read blogs of successful Internet marketeers who sometimes do reviews of products or systems that come onto the market. Take everything with a pinch of salt, there’s just too much HYPE in the marketplace. and definitely don’t believe anyone that tells you you can make a five-figure income by just pushing a button and everything else would be taken care of… Use a little common sense here, if it were really THAT easy, why do they still need to try so hard to sell to you? Why aren’t everyone already millionaires??
So, you’ve gotten past the mindset issue, you’ve looked past all the hype and now you’re saying, OK I’m ready, what do I do now? I’m a blank piece of paper ready to be filled in.
GREAT!!! First, although it’s not as easy as most people make it out to be, I can assure you, it’s not rocket science either. You’ll need to invest some time in learning about the business, learning about how to market yourself, learning how the market works. basically, learning the rules of this ‘playground’ and how it works.
But, how about the money?? when is the cash register going to start ringing?? I can’t possibly survive on nothing while I learn, can I? All valid points.
I started in this business in debt, and I believe a lot of people turn to Internet marketing out of desperation, looking for a quick way to generate some income. Most of them ended up even more heavily in debt buying into all the hype. Sad, but unfortunately TRUE.
Just manage your expectations. It is possible to make five-figure incomes, just not as fast as you think, and it takes more work than you’ll expect. I’ll share with you some basic requirements here in terms of Hardware and software.
First if you’re reading this, i assume you already have a FaceBook account, that’s a great start. FaceBook is one of the biggest sites on the planet, there’re few places better to advertise and build a reputation than on FaceBook now. You can also network with like-minded people on the various special interest ‘groups’ and read articles [like this one] to expand your knowledge of the industry. Slowly, you’ll be able to seek out the big hitters in the market and ‘follow’ them, or pick up tips from their posts and updates. Start getting followers and readers on your ‘page’ by throwing value and giving useful information and tips.
Next, find a program or system that actually makes money apart from the affiliate recruitment side. It is of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE!!! it will help you generate some income and buy you some time [and food] while you go about building up your own brand and reputation on Social Media platforms. the income might not be great in the beginning, but hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day!! Affiliate recruitment is near to impossible if you do not already have a base, a list or a reputation that people trust or know. That, my friends, takes time and effort.
Once you start making some money to make ends meet, you will need to invest some of that profit into online courses that teach you how to make the most out of FaceBook advertising and marketing. by which time, hopefully, you would also have created a small reputation for yourself on Social media platforms and gotten a modest following. Scale up your base building efforts with the tips you learn from the courses you take, invest a small amount in marketing and expand your reach.
By this time, you’ll most probably still be a struggling Internet Marketeer. But, the foundations are basically laid and here’s where the fun begins. Armed with your new knowledge and following, you can start exploring the other tools you might need, the scrapers, blog-sites, Video tools… etc etc etc… and scale your operation up even more. Affiliate recruitment should be a possibility by now and you’ve just opened up another stream of income.
See? It’s not rocket science, it’s actually VERY possible with the right mindset and attitude. You just need to keep plugging on in the initial foundation building phase. The stronger the foundation built, the faster and easier it’ll be to scale your operations up and get into bigger ticket items and programs, thus expanding your income stream[s]. think of it in modular terms:
- Build a Reputation/Base
- Get a program that provides an income stream apart from affiliate recruitment
- Invest in upgrading yourself and improving your knowledge
- Scale up operations with new knowledge
- Invest in new tools and programs
- Explore extra income streams like affiliate recruitment
- Wash, Rinse, Repeat
If you can do the above 7 steps, You should be on the way to a true online income in months. I cannot guarantee you success in three months or a five-figure income in six months. But, I can tell you for a fact that you will definitely be able to survive fairly comfortably working from home on your PC or Mac and have the flexibility of time to spend with your family or whatever it is you enjoy doing. It all depends on how badly you want it, how much you’re willing to put into it and how determined to make it work.
I hope this article has provided you with some insights on what is possible and maybe a basic route-map for you to get started. ‘Like’ it if you think it’s helpful.
